• Hi! My name is Helen Theresa.

I’m a Montessori preschool teacher turned private piano teacher for all ages. I deliver piano lesson right to your door. Currently serving Kings Park West, Kings Park, and surrounding neighborhoods.

I’ve been teaching since early 2011, after graduating from George Mason University with a Bachelor of Arts in Music. I received the education of a lifetime while cutting my teeth in a Montessori preschool for a few years as a certified Montessori teacher, and quickly learned to love the Montessori tenets of individual exploration and educating the whole child. While there, I also discovered that I adored teaching kiddos the piano! They picked it up quickly, and were entranced by the sounds the instrument made.

Inspired by Montessori tenets, piano lessons with me feature a little bit of everything and a whole lot of fun. (Music pun, anyone?) We focus on rhythm, reading, writing, and playing! Together, my student and I focus on building a solid foundation of musical language and concepts through play, color, and games. Lessons are individualized and guided by my student’s interests.

Think of me as your partner in music education.

What makes my lessons unique:

  • Delivered to your door.

Northern Virginia is famous for its traffic, and with traffic comes stress. Let me alleviate the stress by delivering quality piano lessons to your door! All lessons take place in the student’s homes, where they feel comfortable and can begin to associate the piano with the comforts of home.

  • Made to be fun.

Most kids quit piano because it’s just not fun. I teach piano in a fun and engaging way that really leans into a student’s interests. My goal is to foster an appreciation of music and explore the piano as a tool for creativity. Each lesson is interatctive and encourages play!

  • Designed to be flexible.

Schedules are always changing, so I’ve designed lessons to be flexible! You pay for what you use, and nothing more. Lessons run from September to early December, then from mid-January to May to follow the school year.
